NVIDIA A100 PCIe 80 GB

NVIDIA's A100 PCIe 80 GB graphics card, unveiled on June 28th, 2021, marks a significant entry into the professional GPU market. Engineered with a 7 nm process, the card is based on the GA100 graphics processor and notably lacks DirectX support, rendering it unsuitable for running some of the most recent gaming titles that require DirectX 11 or 12. The GA100 processor itself is a substantial piece of silicon, boasting a die area of 826 mm² and packing 54,200 million transistors, underscoring its high-performance design. This model features 6912 shading units alongside 432 texture mapping units and 160 raster operation pipelines. It also incorporates 432 tensor cores, designed specifically to enhance machine learning application performance. NVIDIA pairs the A100 PCIe 80 GB with 80 GB of cutting-edge HBM2e memory, linked through a wide 5120-bit memory interface. The GPU's core clock speed starts at 1065 MHz, with a boost capability up to 1410 MHz, and the memory operates at a frequency of 1512 MHz. Adopting a dual-slot design, the A100 PCIe 80 GB is powered via an 8-pin EPS connector, with its total power consumption capped at 300 W. It is distinguished by its absence of display connectivity, emphasizing its focus on computational rather than graphical display tasks. The card interfaces with the system through a PCI-Express 4.0 x16 connection, measuring 267 mm in length and 111 mm in width, and employs a dual-slot cooling mechanism to efficiently manage its thermal output.
